The Race for LNG: Winter 2026/27 Outlook
Overview
Europe is expected to enter Winter 2026/27 with very low gas stocks. Its need to rebuild inventories and secure winter supplies could increase LNG demand and intensify competition with Asian buyers.
At the same time, supply growth may improve global availability and create a risk of oversupply. Market conditions will depend on demand recovery, regional gas balances and the flexibility of LNG cargo flows.
Geopolitical developments also remain important. Different scenarios involving the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt shipping routes and reshape global LNG trade.
LSEG experts will examine these issues through base, bullish and bearish price scenarios for the Winter 2026/27 season.
